Farm Friendly Direct soars to new heights with Bird Friendly Coffee Restoration project in Peru.
In many parts of Peru the rain forest is cut down to make room for agricultural production. Among other consequences, the variety of bird species is diminishing. To help avert this ecological disaster, The Human Bean is working with Jungle Tech to make the Trees for Coffee: High Amazon Bird Friendly Coffee Reforestation Project a reality. The Human Bean is donating money that will enable farmers to plant three trees for every 150 pounds of coffee dubbed Cafe Selvanica-purchased. The goal of the program is to plant 5,000 native trees in the farmland where it is grown.

Workers load 150-pound bags of beans onto riverboats. Later they will be transferred to large cargo vessels for shipment to the U.S.

Jungle Tech representatives frequently travel to Peru and "cup" the coffees, carefully tasting them to ensure that only the finest beans are chosen for export to The Human Bean.
