Readers overwhelmingly decided that if they need a coffee fix, they're heading to a Human Bean in the morning.

The popular coffee kiosk concept began more than 12 years ago with a pair of stands founded by two local couples — Rhonda and Dan Hawkins and Tami and Tom Casey.

One popular feature at the Human Bean is the chocolate-covered bean that tops each cup of joe.

The Human Bean now serves coffee in Ashland, Central Point, Medford, Phoenix and White City locally. But the company also has 51 locations in seven states.

"We have a great product and an exceptional staff," says marketing director Jackie McGrath.

She says the company plans to keep expanding in the coming years.
